Have Questions about the Finance Academy or Credit Union?

If you have questions about Hamburg High School's Finance Academy or Student Managed Meridia Credit Union Branch, post them here! This blog will be checked daily and questions will be answered within 24 hours. Not quick enough? Stop into the student branch (open during lunch periods) or talk to a Business Department teacher.

    I heard that the Credit Union is giving ATM cards to students, even if they aren't 18. Is that true?

    ABSOLUTELY TRUE! IF YOU OPEN A MERIDIA CU ACCOUNT WITH AS LITTLE AS $5.00, YOU CAN SIGN UP FOR AN ATM CARD. BECAUSE YOU ARE UNDER 18, WE REQUIRE YOU TO ATTEND A 10-15 MINUTE SEMINAR (AFTER SCHOOL WEDNESDAY IN ROOM 264) BEFORE WE WILL ISSUE YOU THE CARD. HAVING AN ATM CARD IS A GREAT RESPONSIBILITY AND WE WANT TO MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ALL THE FACTS.

    Only students enrolled in Hamburg's Finance Academy can work in the school branch. At this time, they do recieve internship credit for the time they spend learning about our operations and working as tellers in the branch. A few of our student tellers even work at Meridia's main branch on Southwestern Blvd. after school hours and on the weekends - and get paid a teller's salary!! If you have any more questions, just stop by my room (264) during the day!

    How old do you have to be to open an account with an ATM card?

    Usually you have to be 18. But we offer ATM cards to All Hamburg High School students. Just come to room 264 any Wednesday after school, and I can help you get your card.

    Absolutely! Just stop down to the branch to open an account! You'll need to know your social security number, have a picture ID ( school ID works), and an initial deposit of at least five dollars. Our tellers will be able to open an account for you on the spot!
